Today’s project is something we, unfortunately, see a lot of. Our customer hired a smaller outfit to install their new panel and after being less than impressed with the final results called us in to redo the project. After choosing the original contractors estimate due to the lowest price the installer showed up with a different mount than what was originally promised, left that mount installed slightly crooked, and even worse… showed up 2 hours late for their appointment. When the installer pulled out a plastic wire molding and told our customer that was their definition of “concealed wiring” our customer decided he had seen enough and ended the project right there, leaving him with some unsightly wires hanging from between the TV and cable box.
The original plans for the install called for the HDMI cabling to be run to a media cabinet directly below the TV. When our techs came in they realized a small unfinished portion of the basement was directly below them and would be a great location for storing our customer’s A/V equipment (Tivo Premeire + Samsung BDD5500). Using the TiVo iPad app our customer was able to maintain complete control over his system and, most importantly, with no additional cost.
- Samsung UN55D8000
- Samsung LED Wire Mount
- 25 Foot SnapAV B5 HDMI Cable
- Apple iPad w/ Tivo iOS app
After wiring the HDMI our tech was left with 2 final tasks. Relocating a recessed power outlet to directly behind the panel and installing a new wire/picture frame type mount that would let that 1.2″ deep panel sit directly on the wall with little to no gap showing. Using one of our recessed AC/AV patch panels (pictured below) the install was a breeze and looked great.
